Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9

American multi national e-commerce company now tries to pull a chair for themselves into consumer electronics section with the release of it's first large screen tablet; the Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

This Android 4.0 tab runs on the mighty dual-core 1.5GHz OMAP 4470 processor. The resolution is amazing, standing at 1920x1200 HD LCD display which supports up to 1080p HD. Connectivity for all the Fire HD tablets includes dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi with MIMO (multiple-in/multiple-out) which allow the tablet to optimize its connection to Wi-Fi networks, resulting in faster media streaming. It doesn't have a primary cam and the secondary cam(front-facing) is only 1.3 MP. They also claim they've the fastest wi-fi connectivity ever. The built-in storage is 32 GB. It also has a 64 GB and 4G LTE variants.

Pros:
  • Dual core, speedy processor (1500 MHz).
  • Lots of RAM (1024 MB).
  • High pixel density screen, over 250ppi (254 ppi).
  • HDMI connector for TV-out.


Cons:
  • No primary camera.
  • Lacks microSD slot for storage expansion.
  • Lacks an ambient light sensor for automatic screen brightness adjustment.
  • No global positioning system (GPS).
